Sittin' in la la; waitin' for my ya ya

Aren't you tired of everyone complaining about contemporary lyrics?  Sure, they might be a little hard to hear.  A little nasty.  A little unruly.  A little violent.

At least they make some kind of coherent sense.

I remember the lyrics of my childhood.

"Who put the bop in the bop she bop she bop?
Who put the rhyme in the ramalamma ding dong?"

You're kidding - right?

And my adolescence wasn't much better.

Remember the Beatles?  At first, all they all wanted to hold my hand.

But when they dropped acid, all bets were off.

You say "Yes", I say "No".
You say "Stop" and I say "Go, go, go".
Oh no.
You say "Goodbye" and I say "Hello, hello, hello".
I don't know why you say "Goodbye", I say "Hello, hello, hello".
I don't know why you say goodbye, I say hello.
I say "High", you say "Low".
You say "Why?" And I say "I don't know".
Oh no.
You say "Goodbye" and I say "Hello, hello, hello".
I don't know why you say "Goodbye", I say "Hello, hello, hello".
Hello, goodbye, hello, goodbye. Hello, goodbye.I don't know why you say "Goodbye", I say "Hello".Hello, goodbye, hello, goodbye. Hello, goodbye. Hello, goodbye.
Why, why, why, why, why, why, do you
Say "Goodbye, goodbye, bye, bye".
Oh no.
You say "Goodbye" and I say "Hello, hello, hello".
I don't know why you say "Goodbye", I say "Hello, hello, hello".
I don't know why you say "Goodbye", I say "Hello".
You say "Yes", I say "No".I say "Yes", you say "No".
You say "Stop", I say "Go, go, go".

I
I know, I know -  - sometimes it's hard to hear our young, black men chanting nasty lyrics.  Buck up, bunko.  It's all better than -

Gotta make a move to a town
That's right for me
Town to keep me movin'
Keep me groovin' with some energy

Well, I talk about it, talk about it
Talk about it, talk about it

Talk about, talk about
Talk about movin'

Gotta move on
Gotta move on
Gotta move on

Won't you take me to
Funkytown?
Won't you take me to
Funkytown?
Won't you take me to
Funkytown?
Won't you take me to
Funkytown?
Kind of humbles a girl, doesn't it?
